Sophie Zeman-Hale is a fiber artist working primarily in weaving. She is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in studio art with a concentration in fiber and material arts.

 

Zeman-Hale is particularly interested in how textiles and materials can allude to bodily forms without representing them with a literal meaning. she is fascinated by weaving on both a visual and technical level. Weaving allows her to create an image or color field "painting" while also engineering a three-dimensional construction. Zeman-Hale currently resides in Vermont.
